Your Committee heard from 216 witnesses, held 73 meetings and issued 23 reports in the last session, during which it reviewed ten Bills (C-19, C-61, C-64, C-66, C-208, S-8, S-10, S-13, S-20 and S-30).

Your Committee presented an Interim Report on the Federal Child Support Guidelines in June 1998 including 12 recommendations. As well, your Committee presented its Final Report on Social Cohesion in June 1999.

Your Committee also created a Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs to examine and report on the state of health care in Canada concerning veterans of war and Canadian service persons, and to examine and report on the future of the Canadian War Museum, hearing from a total of 93 witnesses over 22 meetings.

The Interim Report of the Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs entitled: "The State of Health Care for War Veterans and Service Men & Women - First Report: Long-term care, standards of care and federal-provincial relations" presented its findings, together with 16 recommendations.

The Final Report of the Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs entitled: "Raising the Bar: Creating a New Standard in Veterans Health Care" presented its findings, together with 68 recommendations.

The Interim Report of the Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs entitled: "Guarding History" presented its findings together with 12 recommendations.
